Crisis Response and Intervention Training (CRIT)

for Schools

THE TRAINING

The Crisis Response and Intervention Training (CRIT) for Schools is an 8-hour training program designed to prepare elementary, junior high, and high school personnel, as well as school resource officers, in their response and interaction with children and adolescents experiencing crises related to behavioral health conditions (including mental health conditions and substance use disorders) and intellectual and developmental disabilities. This training is based upon the original CRIT curriculum for Law Enforcement.

The goals of the curriculum include:

    • Increase understanding of a child's and adolescent's brain development
    • Recognize signs of suicidal ideation and crises
    • Apply de-escalation skills and strategies

Train-the-Trainer

Crisis Response Programs and Training offers a 3-day in-person train-the-trainer of this course.  Attendees will not only learn how to deliver the training, but also learn how to conduct scenario based training.  After successful completion of the course, attendees will have access to the full curriculum to provide the training to their school personnel in their communities.

To host an 8-hour training or a 3-day train-the-trainer course in your area, please contact
